Project Overview
- The Wangcang County Food Waste Treatment Projectis located within the Jiachuan Town Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a total investment of approximately RMB 49.8 million. As the first food waste treatment facility in Guangyuan City, the project is designed to process 20–30 tons of food waste per day, supported by a comprehensive collection and transportation system and MBR biological treatment facilities, enabling unified collection, centralized harmless disposal, and resource utilization of food waste across the entire county.
- The project is designed with a wastewater treatment capacity of 15 m³/d.
- The wastewater is generated from food waste pretreatment, pulping, and anaerobic digestate processes, characterized by high oil and grease, high suspended solids, and high COD. Additionally, influenced by the heavy oil and spicy nature of Sichuan cuisine, the levels of salinity, ammonia nitrogen, and total nitrogen are significantly elevated.
Key Technical Challenges
- Wastewater quality and flow rate fluctuate significantly with food waste collection schedules and composition, while odor control presents considerable challenges. The treatment process must be optimized to accommodate these fluctuations while ensuring both compliant discharge and effective on-site environmental management.
- High concentrations of oils and fats, as well as suspended solids, are prone to causing equipment scaling, pipeline blockages, and membrane fouling. The pretreatment stage must be strengthened to efficiently remove oils and suspended solids, ensuring the stable operation of subsequent treatment processes.
