Characteristics of Coal Mine Wastewater:
High suspended solids and turbidity: Suspended solids primarily consist of coal fines and rock cuttings, with concentrations typically exceeding 200 mg/L and in extreme cases reaching over 1,000 mg/L.
Multiple wastewater types: Coal mine wastewater can be classified into several categories, including mine water, coal preparation wastewater, and coal chemical wastewater.
Highly variable organic pollutant levels: Organic content varies significantly across different wastewater types. Conventional mine water typically contains 150–300 mg/L of organic matter, while coal chemical wastewater can have COD levels ranging from several hundred to several thousand mg/L.
Presence of heavy metal ions: The wastewater contains heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, iron, and manganese.
